Study on Patient Recruitment Published in JPRAS

Last October, the RBSPS invited its members to participate in a study conducted by Dr. Renée De Busser (VUB) as part of the Master in Health Care Management and Policy at KU Leuven. The research focused on patient recruitment strategies among Belgian plastic surgeons and their knowledge of the legal framework surrounding practice information and publicity.

Thanks to the valuable contribution of 50 colleagues, the study was successfully completed and has now been published in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS).

The findings provide important insights into current recruitment strategies in Belgium. While word-of-mouth remains a key driver for patient referrals, social media continues to gain importance. The study also highlights ongoing challenges and uncertainties regarding Belgian legislation on professional communication.

In line with our initial commitment, we are pleased to share the results with our members.
